The Long Products Division, Steel Ventures, Inc., located in Wurtland, KY, has an immediate opening for a Shift Supervisor.  This plant coats a wide variety of products from Steel Ventures’ affiliated company, Steel of West Virginia, and others, including truck trailer cross members, I-beams, solar posts, as well as complex fabricated assemblies and parts for other customers. 

• Supervises production employees engaged in heavy physical labor in a busy industrial environment.
• Must have significant situational awareness and be able to monitor the whole process.
• Ability to monitor and supervise production workers to ensure their safety in a busy industrial environment, including overhead cranes and mobile equipment
• Use of personal protective equipment (“PPE”) per assigned job task, including steel toed boots with internal or external metatarsal protection, safety glasses, a hard hat, cut-resistant sleeves/gloves, and long pants/sleeves
• All other duties as assigned

• Must be capable of utilizing a computer to maintain personnel and production records throughout the shift.
• Must be capable of basic troubleshooting and able to communicate with maintenance personnel regarding breakdowns and failures.
• Must be able to move throughout the production process and inspect work in process to ensure it meets customer requirements.
• Physical labor may be required in specific situations, and for training purposes, including heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 30 lbs. occasionally.
• Standing, walking, and balancing constantly for 8-12 hours per day.
• Crouching and bending occasionally for up to 30% of an 8-12 hour shift.
• Operation of forklift, powered and non-powered hand tools (grinder/hammer/chisel) is required occasionally for inspection, training, and supervision purposes.
• Ability to maintain personal safety in a busy industrial environment.
• Knowledge of required PPE for each task and ability to enforce safety rules, ensuring that production employees use appropriate PPE.
