Overview

STEEL OF WEST VIRGINIA, INC. at 17th St and 2nd Ave (behind the Weisberg Family Engineering Building) will be hiring an intern for our Sales Department.

Responsibilities

  • Intern will be expected to learn our order management system, which includes order entry, inventory, shipment schedules, forecasting, and pricing. There will be some exposure to capacity planning, margin analysis, and claims handling.

  • Interns manage a customer contact file for monthly pricing communication to all customers, assure that the communication sheet is prepared properly and is sent to each customer.

  • Intern will help prepare press releases, distribute them and assist with marketing/advertising efforts – this includes preparation for trade conventions, managing customer gifts, and preparing brochures/letters/videos for customer presentations. 

  • The majority of the intern’s time will be spent handling incoming telephone calls from customers, managing mass customer mailings/emails/faxes and order entry.

  • Good command of language, grammar, and telephone etiquette are a must as well as the ability to interface with many different groups of people - accounting, production, engineering, etc. Written communication skills are also necessary as some letter writing is required. 

  • Great resume-building experience, fun job - nice people!

Qualifications

  • Prefer candidates be a business, marketing, public relations major and a sophomore or junior. Other majors may be given consideration. 
  • Must have good communication skills, must be detail oriented, and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must pass drug screen.
