Steel Ventures, Inc. operates a start of the art galvanizing facility in Wurtland, Kentucky which employs over 100 people. This plant coats a wide variety of products from Steel Ventures’ affiliated company, Steel of West Virginia, and others including truck trailer cross members, I-beams, solar posts as well as complex fabricated assemblies and parts for other customers.
We have an immediate need for a Maintenance Supervisor.
Overview
Responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the of the facility and providing technical support and direction to maintenance personnel. Interface with production personnel to support production objectives in all plant areas.
Responsibilities
· Ensure work group safety and a safe work environment for the entire department relating to operation and maintenance of galvanizing, warehousing, and other equipment on site.
· Lead all maintenance and system improvement activities.
· Develop technicians troubleshooting skills and programming skills.
· Track and manage technician qualification and required training.
· Provide technical resources for maintenance personnel and contractors.
· Report to the department manager on all aspects of plant maintenance.
· Understand and maintain spare part, maintenance, safety, LOTO and quality system compliance.
· Plan and coordinate maintenance activities with support from engineering and electrical engineering teams.
· Oversee day to day activities of maintenance employees and contractors to maximize uptime and minimize cost.
· Assist troubleshooting and repair of equipment, develop periodic maintenance schedules on equipment. Ensure ongoing improvement of periodic maintenance protocols.
· Identify, design and implement changes/upgrades which will increase the productivity or reliability of the process or coordinate such activities.
· Other duties as required.
Required:
· Experience as a millwright, electrician, or maintenance tech showing progressive experience to lead, foreman, or supervisor or bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or engineering technology.
· Ability to work with production, maintenance and contractor personnel to achieve objectives.
· Excellent communication skills.
Preferred:
· Experience directing contractors and maintenance personnel.
· Experience with a galvanizer or fabrication shop.
